Framed for the brutal murder of his noble family, Durgan Irongate was sentenced to exile. He wandered the world for many years, meeting many friends, many more enemies, and taking jobs when they came.

In the winter of T.A. 1640, Prince Thélor Ironfist intervened and helped prove Durgan’s innocence to King Bain of Khazad-dûm, who pardoned him. To help reestablish Durgan’s honor within Longbeard society, Thélor selflessly abdicated his recently acquired responsibilities (and wealth) as clan lord of the Goldbeard sept to him.

While Thélor lost the power of a major Longbeard sept, he has gained a lifelong ally. Durgan has sworn to repay his debt to the Ironfist Prince in whatever way he can.
