The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the East
Khazad-dûm is a Dwarven city delved beneath three peaks in the central Misty Mountains. The Longbeard clan, descendants of Durin the Deathless, the First Father of the Khazâd, make their home in the magnificent complex of tunnels, caverns, avenues, and halls. The current King Under the Mountain is Bain, and his beloved Queen is Bris.
The Dwarves do not wield the influence that was theirs in the past. They intervene militarily in the affairs of Men only when the Dwarven communities of Eriador are directly endangered. The closed, but harmless, Elven kingdom of Lórinand guards the eastern approaches to their city; the abandoned and haunted fells of Hollin protect them from the west.
Three roads carry a steady stream of Dwarven merchants into Eriador, The Menatar Siril, which passes through the ruins of Ost-in-Edhil on its way to Dunland and Tharbad, is the busiest; the Men Ered, which runs north through the fells to the Fords of Bruinen, is an ancient mining trail that now serves to carry a select amount of trade with Rhudaur and Angmar. No weapons are exchanged, nor any metals to make them. The third route, the Men Hollin, runs along the ridge of the same name all the way to Fennas Drúnin in En Egladil.
